The South African Gallery of Legends exists to recognize, honour and pay tribute to individuals and teams from South Africa who have attained extraordinary achievement, given distinguished service and or made major contributions to sports arts and culture domestically or internationally.

South African Gallery of Legends Soccer Development Weekend – Phalaborwa
This past weekend at SANParks KNP, Phalaborwa, the South African Gallery of Legends once again inspired the next generation of football stars. Legendary players Teenage Dladla, Steve “Chippa” Lekoelea, Magents Motale, and former Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba, shared their wisdom, skills, and passion with eager youngsters during an exciting development clinic.
After the training, the kids showcased their new skills in competitive matches filled with energy and determination. To make the day even more special, the South African Gallery of Legends donated 15 pairs of new soccer boots to youth from the deep rural areas of Limpopo - ensuring that talent is nurtured no matter where it comes from.
The day ended in true South African style with a bush braai under the stars inside the park, bringing everyone together to celebrate community, culture, and the beautiful game.
A heartfelt thank you to the Legends and the SANParks staff who made this unforgettable day possible. Together, we are building dreams, shaping futures, and keeping the spirit of football alive.

We’re officially in activation mode as we prepare for a powerful day of storytelling, heritage, and community connection. The mountains of Golden Gate are calling, and soon they will echo with the voices, memories, and lived experiences that shape who we are as a nation.
We are honoured to welcome two of South Africa’s world‑renowned legends — Dr Helen Sebidi and Dr Gcina Mhlophe. Their powerful voices and lived wisdom will inspire our youth through storytelling rooted in identity, heritage, and belonging.
