This past Saturday, the South African Gallery of Legends (SAGOL) proudly hosted a once‑in‑a‑lifetime soccer clinic, presented by none other than Marks Maponyane, one of South Africa’s most celebrated football icons.
A group of 50 enthusiastic, U/13 boys and girls gathered to learn, play, and be inspired by the Legend himself. From mastering ball control to understanding teamwork and discipline, every child walked away with new skills and unforgettable memories.
Highlights of the day:
Hands-on coaching from Marks Maponyane, sharing tips and techniques from his legendary career
Skill-building drills designed to boost confidence and sharpen talent
Inspiring mentorship that reminded young players the importance of discipline, respect, and passion
Community spirit , as learners from diverse backgrounds came together through the beautiful game

A Night to Remember: Honouring Heritage Through Art
On Thursday evening, the South African Gallery of Legends (SAGOL), in proud partnership with Ditsong Museums, and support of the National Heritage Council, officially launched the powerful exhibition "AZIBUYELE EMASISWENI (RETURN TO THE SOURCE)" by the legendary Professor Pitika Ntuli.
Held at Ditsong Museum of Cultural History, the evening was nothing short of extraordinary — a celebration of our roots, our resilience, and our rich cultural tapestry. Among the distinguished guests were the iconic Dr John Kani, SAGOL Chairperson, Ria Ledwaba, NHC Chairperson, Mr Tau Masemola, and the CEOs of Freedom Park, National Heritage Council, SAGOL board members and Legendary marks Maponyane, alongside many other esteemed leaders and creatives who continue to shape our national story.
This exhibition is a profound journey into African spirituality, identity, and wisdom - a must-see for anyone passionate about heritage and the arts. It will be on display until April 2026, offering ample time for schools, communities, and cultural enthusiasts to engage with its timeless message.
