This past weekend, the John Collier Tournament U/13 Football Tournament was more than just a competition—it was a platform for young talent to shine. Serving as official trials, the tournament helped select teams that will proudly represent at the National Bill Stewart Tournament in Bloemfontein, June 2026.
The South African Gallery of Legends (SAGOL), with the guidance and intervention of our celebrated football legends, remains deeply committed to shaping the skills, discipline, and dreams of these Future Legends. Together, we are building pathways for youth development, community pride, and sporting excellence.

Celebrating a Legend: Dr Esther Mahlangu’s 90th Birthday
On Friday, we concluded the 90th birthday celebrations of the legendary Dr Esther Mahlangu at the Kgodwana Cultural Village in Mpumalanga. The day was filled with vibrant festivities and exhibitions, honoring her extraordinary contribution to South African heritage and culture.
As part of the celebrations, the South African Gallery of Legends proudly presented Dr Mahlangu with a birthday cake shaped as a BMW, beautifully decorated with her signature Ndebele paintings—a fitting tribute to her artistry and global influence.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the MEC of the Department of Culture, Sport and recreation in Mpumalanga, MEC Leah Mabuza, and her dedicated team for making it possible for the South African Gallery of Legends to be part of this historic occasion.
